or was he always saying ‘wow’? i could never figure that out.
this was kind of the definition of trying too hard. especially the theremin score. seeing crispin glover is enough sign for us to know: ‘this is weird.’ we don’t need the damn theremin to clue us in. i liked some of ernest’s weirdness, like flinching at the toy flipping on his desk, but then it went overboard too and seemed desperate for bizarreness. like the homeless guy talking outside the soup kitchen - is there anything more cliche in a crazy guy rant than elvis and aliens and the national enquirer?
and bartleby is a short story and unless you’ve really got something to add to it then it should just be a short. and the only thing they really had to add was ernest and joe piscopo and the ‘how are you’ bit. which is pretty tired.
bah i’m grumpy right now. i did laugh at some parts.
