i liked this, mostly just the beginning. it built the character pretty nimbly, except for the too obvious ‘can’t find a friend build one’ line. it also had some really funny touches. there was a woman in the vet’s office drinking a 7up awkwardly that cracked me up.
when may’s change happens they do well just following through quickly and without needless reflection. it’s a disappointing change character-wise, but i guess it has to happen otherwise the movie would be too boring just showing someone trying to hide themself or integrate in society.
oh yeah, i caught a continuity error (i’m usually pretty oblivious, unfortunately.) after may sees the optometrist she’s wearing the flimsy cardboard wraparounds, but in one shot when she’s outside she wears full on octagenarian blu blockers. i caught this because i’m a big blu blockers fan.
