i’m totally gnarly

this one’s been sitting around for a couple weeks and had some negative netflix-atrophy going. finally got around to it and was pleased it was entertaining. animals acting are good for me. the part where the cat turns the tv on and ‘ben’ plays was eye-roll inducing. if you want to reference that you gotta find some kind of subtle way about it. i also really disliked that they played the version at the end with glover singing. that’s all about the persona of crispin glover and nothing about the movie.  but still, the main rats were cute, and it was fun seeing the swarms of real rats (the digital ones, as expected were lame.) i listened to the first couple minutes of the commentary and they started talking about how they put 9/11 references throughout the movie and that almost made me switch to ‘didn’t like it’ but i’ll ignore that.

both this and may had scenes where dog killing really shows you what’s going on with the character. in may she kills the dog and from thereonout it’s looneyville. willard spares the dog, but then later kills the cat and loses our sympathies (tho less-so than if it had been a dog.)
