overall, by the time the movie is done i found the story decently satisfying. basically a nice little story about how people’s lives get ruined with mostly understated pathos. but along the way the scenes did not interest me at all. partly i think it’s pretty dated - the idea of a big family name […]

the first date ending at the pier was nice and evocative. when it became clear that booze was going to be the cause of all their problems it got tedious. but the goal i guess was to get to rock bottom so they needed to economize. still i think they could have not simplified things […]
