i’m a huge pogues fan and this was a nice overview of their history, with some decent insights by people along the way. they mix old footage and talking heads well with current footage of macgowan stumbling around. the moments in his current life with his wife give a little bit of what’s going on, but i was still left wanting to know more about his songwriting. especially since he’s so unimpressive in the current interviews, typified by his ‘drunk guy that won’t leave you alone’ snicker-laugh. he claims it just comes out, but he’s got to have some critical theories to come up with so many great songs. lyric-wise i mean.
