this was pretty wild. i spent a lot of time confused, which i like. the dude ramming his head against the tree was especially perplexing.
the story was fairly interesting until the badass hunter was introduced and you pretty much knew how things were going to end up. guimba’s actual comeuppance was a nice “wha?” ultimately it’s still a pretty straighforward story. the main cause for drama in the story is guimba’s son’s predilection for large “rumps” according to the subtitles. oh, and despotic tyranny, blah blah.
the cinematography and editing were good, so it was a lot more watchable than i expected. the non-pro actors were at times a distraction and i thought they could have been better utilized.
