i don’t really know what i thought of this. i remember the first one was fun but i don’t really remember why and this was just a huge bunch of stuff. i guess once again i was bewildered.
i think they went too big with the action. like the first time […]

this was just about exactly what it should be.  if you like the show they give you all that at a good pace and flow. and the non-show-like bits they added - the 2 at the beginning and end, steve-o talking about his dad, the post-stunt interview with the black dude that ran away, and […]

when i didn’t think it could get worse martin sheen has some of the stupidest scenes ever.  then it all ends in a blaze of silly.  they used a lucinda williams song at one point - but it’s one i particularly dislike.  the whole soundtrack was annoying ‘we’re cool’ type that doesn’t help any scene.  […]

this was a bit of a chore to watch, not just the first necessarily painful act, but even once they hit the road and aim for exploitation.  even with some compelling leads i got tired of watching. its intentions were far too clear and made the story’s progression tiresome, the soundtrack was awful, and […]

the tone of these are always tough for me and i definitely had this sitting on my shelf for a couple weeks before finally putting it in.  i think i mainly have trouble with the cheesiness of the love scenes, but this one also the villains - especially the sister constantly laughing.  i don’t think […]

definitely an interesting story and i liked its progression and arc - especially how the old guy that called sozaburo ‘little religion’ became such a big part of it.  but it felt like there were just a couple scenes missing along the way.  maybe it’s just cause asano’s character shows up at the beginning and […]

this had a nice story and some real nice moments. i liked the whole focus of the story - losing shoes and hiding it from everyone, and it did well reflecting a kid’s ideology - where losing the shoes has far more importance than being the smartest in class or winning the big race. […]

i didn’t know much what this was about going in; i only got it because of errol morris.  i don’t actually like morris’ style much.  my favorite thing about documentaries is the ambiguity and surprise, and by limiting his movies almost entirely to interviews and re-creations i think morris takes a lot of this out.  […]

despite some well-observed advice i saw soap alone and sober - actually i was again the only person in the whole theater and had just had some espresso, so that’s like hyper-sobreity.  but it was quite enjoyable once it got going.  the buildup was boring and they didn’t use that time to set up anything […]

**ooo

i read the first couple sentences of some reviews of this and liked the concept enough to go see it without reading the rest of the reviews. an action movie that jumps right into the action with no setup, is basically in real-time and go go go - sounded promising. but in actuality […]
