i’m totally gnarly

the tone of these are always tough for me and i definitely had this sitting on my shelf for a couple weeks before finally putting it in.  i think i mainly have trouble with the cheesiness of the love scenes, but this one also the villains - especially the sister constantly laughing.  i don’t think she had one line she didn’t buffer on each side with cackles.

i usually appreciate the unevenness, but things were a bit too straight-forward for me in this one.  he has the conflict of should he lead or not, but it’s all very clear he shouldn’t.  they didn’t play up the other side much at all.  i guess starting the movie 10 years later kind of eliminated any tension in that conflict.  still it was a good story.
