i don’t really know what i thought of this. i remember the first one was fun but i don’t really remember why and this was just a huge bunch of stuff. i guess once again i was bewildered.
i think they went too big with the action. like the first time the kraken shows up it swallows the boat whole, uping the ante for our heroes’ ensuing escapes way too high. each successive time it moves slower and slower. and the big sphere cage and jack falling through all the bridges and the big wheel - just too big and improbable. that 3way swordfight was pretty lame too - it was obvious no one was going to kill anyone - just find a way to get rid of the swords and turn it into a biting, hair-pulling, scramble.
still pirate adventures are fun and davy jones and his crew looked fucking awesome so i guess i liked it.
it was me and an older couple in the theater so before the previews started the dude turned to me and said ‘looks like we’ve got the place to ourselves, eh?’ and i said, ‘yeah you two keep it down over there.’ they laughed but i think i didn’t and it kind of ended up intimidating them cause they did keep quiet and didn’t acknowledge me as we were leaving. sorry folks.
