this felt a little underdeveloped.  the setup was great and it’s kind of a huge subject to tackle, but as they moved on things got pretty cliched.  they put a lot of weight on the two leads to keep scenes together, but the elements were all just too familiar.  i was also very unclear on the why of the boxing scenes, and the explanation i found afterwards that danny was humanizing his opponents seems kind of lame.  ddl’s rope-skipping skills were incredible.
