got some netflix entropy going right now - i’ve got 3 serious seeming movies and haven’t been feeling up to watching them yet.  so i pulled this out of the dvd rack and realized i hadn’t actually watched it since i bought it and it was probably 18 years since i’d seen it at all.  […]

i certainly appreciate this film’s urgency.  it wants nothing more than to be watched now, right now.  so that’s pretty exciting and bold right there.
unfortunately i think they squandered a lot of their uniqueness.  they have an incredible resource in steidle - one of the few people with firsthand experience and knowledge of the events […]

don’t imagine anything

dammit.  i watched this one last week then forgot/wasn’t enthused enough to write it up, so i remember my overall thoughts but not all the specifics.  the main thing i liked was the series of motifs they kept tying into the themes.  i didn’t particulary think much of the ant motif, for one, but i […]

this was kind of too bad at the missed opportunities here.  maybe it was just what i wanted, but it seemed like they wanted to make a gritty ‘real’ type movie but were too tentative to do so.  the most un-pc they get is when the clearly evil cameo says ‘negroes’.  and dan having to […]
