danz radikle reviewz

i’m totally gnarly

this was kind of too bad at the missed opportunities here.  maybe it was just what i wanted, but it seemed like they wanted to make a gritty ‘real’ type movie but were too tentative to do so.  the most un-pc they get is when the clearly evil cameo says ‘negroes’.  and dan having to answer to his wife?  what century was this?

there’s also kind of a wishy-washiness to the narrative.  the dinner scene builds tension about wade’s brutality then when wade kills that dude with the fork it’s supposed to be some kind of revelation - ‘this is the brutal truth behind the mystique.’  i appreciated that moment but since they already had that ridiculous over-the-top action scene for the robbery there’s no chance for the point to come through.  and i think that carries through to the end where they want some kind of flawed heroism, but his actions are so outlandish and superhuman there’s no chance for flaw or gray area.

except for the end taking forever i did enjoy it, but i would probably enjoy anything with these two leads.
