well this was a lot more enjoyable than ray - mostly cause it was a lot more reasonable pace with focused themes and not nearly as corny. the ‘where he got the inspiration’ scenes were, but not too bad. unfortunately it didn’t really give me much insight into cash. there’s that one scene at his audition where the guy talks about dying in a gutter, and i found that interesting. but then the rest of it is just his relationship with june. the tone is all ‘this guy’s got to clean up his act’ but you’re just not going to get any insight unless you revel a bit (or a lot) in getting wasted on pills.
